Funky Forest: The First Contact. (2005)

This is a bizarre movie. Everything in this movie is surreal. Nothing makes any sense whatsoever.
Definitely one of the weirdest movies that I have ever watched.
However, it is enjoyable to watch something out of ordinary like this.
Overall 5.5/10.

Try to make sense of what's going on in this pic.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

1. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (live-action movie). (2010)

I like it so much. This movie is based on a novel of the same title (if I'm not mistaken).
It's about a girl, Akari Yoshiyama, who leaps through time (by drinking a potion) to meet her mother's friend in 1974.
The main actor and actress are so cute together.
When the girl's memory is erased (so that she don't remember her visit to the past), I cried a bit.
Although the plot is questionable, but it is still a great movie to watch.
Overall 9/10.
Riisa Naka
Falling for a guy in the past.

2. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (animated movie). (2006)

I watched this award winning movie quite sometimes ago.
Although it has the same title, but this movies' plot is nothing like the novel or the live-action movie.
In fact, it is supposed to be the sequel(?) to the novel.
The story is about a girl, Makoto Konno, who gains the ability to travel through time after she discovered a time leaping device.
The voice actress for Makoto Konno is Riisa Naka, the lead actress in the live-action movie.
Personally, I prefer the live-action movie than the animated movie.
Overall, 6/10.

Death Game Park (2010)

Not bad at all. Seeing all the young actors, I feel so old... haha...
The story is about a group of prisoners who are forced to play a game,
in which, if they fail to complete a certain task, they'll die.
Pretty much like Saw, right. Ternganga-nganga aku tengok.
I am satisfied with the movie; the settings, costumes, props, and choreography are nicely done.
However, the ending is a bit loose and unclear. Guess it is up to the viewers to interpret it.
Overall, 8/10.

Hujan Sakura aka Sakura no Ame aka Sakura Rain

Again, finding a good song really made my day.
In 2009, this song is one of the most popular graduation songs in Japan.
Sakura no Ame by absorb(?).
Too bad the band that sings this song was currently disbanded.

Sakura in Washington DC during the Cherry Blossom Festival. I really wanna see Sakura in Japan =)

Hotaru no Hikari

I watched Hotaru no Hikari back in 2007, and I found it very interesting and funny.
While watching the drama, someone told me, "You are a lot like Ayase Haruka".
I thought, 'No way I am that kawaii'.
I even searched for Ayase Haruka's pictures to see which part of my face that resembles her.

Hotaru no Hikari 2 was released in 2010. I don't have time to watch it yet. So far, the first two episodes that I watched are good. While watching the second season of this drama, it came to my sense what that person meant when she said that I am a lot like Ayase Haruka. It turned out, she was referring to the character that Ayase plays in the drama, Hotaru Amemiya.

So, I am a himono-onna ne. Can't do anything about it.

Koizora The Movie (2007)

This movie is so full of dramas. Can Mika's life be much more dramatic than that? Hahaha.
Anyway, I still love this movie. In fact, this is one of the movies that I didn't skip any part of it.

So many sweet scenes and dialogues that would make one goes "awwww".

Although I don't really like the first half of this movie (yes, I am quite conservative), but I think that is what really happens in our society, isn't it?

Plus, Mika is so lucky to have two sweet guys that love her so much.

Overall, 9/10 from me.

The Little Match Girl

Is it just me, or is this year's winter colder than ever? Ok, maybe it's just me.

Walking back home from class on a windy and snowy night, I remembered a story that I read when I was little, The Little Match Girl.

Mind Your Language

Mind Your Language (1977-1986)

Found this series on YouTube.

This British comedy series is about an English teacher (Mr. Brown) who has to teach a bunch of foreigner. It's funny, hilarious, awesome, enjoyable, cute, and addictive.
There is no single episode that I don't like.
Too bad the show was ended due to it being not "politically correct".

Unstoppable (2010)

I was 20 minutes late and the person who sold the ticket at the cinema let me see the movie for free (since the movie had already ran for 20 minutes). Weird.
The movie is about a giant train that due to some technical errors, moves on its own at a speed that is too fast to be stopped, hence the title.

To make matter worse, the train is carrying chemical that is dangerous to the population (cliche huh).

Coming to the rescue is a train engineer (Denzel Washington) and a young conductor (Christ Pine).

What I like about this movie?

The noise and the explosion of course. What else do you expect from an action thriller film?
And, don't you wish you were in the devil train, running 74 mph? (this is coming from a person who think 100 times before taking a roller coaster ride)
Plus, the movie takes place in Pennsylvania =)
Denzel and Christ's acting were great too.

Overall I'll give it a 7/10 for lack of originality.

Hanamizuki

I'm looking forward to watching this movie. It was released on August in Japan.
Although I'm not a big fan of this genre (slow romance), but I'll watch it for the sake of Aragaki Yui.
Isn't she cute? Her smile is so bright ne. Plus Ikuta Toma is in the movie as well.
So yeah, more reasons to watch it.

December

It's December FTW. December!!!

1 week to go before my final exam week.
Of the 5 subjects that I take this semester, I think that so far I did pretty well in 4 of the subjects.
However, I have a VERY bad feeling about the other subject. I hope everything goes well.

It's snowing finally. Pretty late considering that the first snow fell on October/November on the previous years.

你是我的天使

I heard this song for the first time a while ago.
And now I can't stop listening to it.
Angel by Mayday.
The lyrics are simple yet meaningful.
Do listen peeps 五月天-天使.
Finding new good songs always make my day.
It's just like a 'eureka' moment to me :)

What have I been watching lately 3

1. The Mirror (1997)
A movie turn documentary. Weird but still I kept watching it for the sake of not wanting to waste it. (3/5)

2. Offside (2006)
I just realized as I write this review that the director of this movie, Jafar Panahi is the same person who directed The Mirror. The story managed to move me. (4/5)

3. In this World (2002)
A docudrama (first time coming across this term) portraying the journey of 2 Afghan refugees. (4/5)

What have I been watching lately 2

Not so lately as the title goes. But I really feel like writing about them. These movies are graphically awesome. You can definitely tell that they put so much money into these movies. It's a good thing that all of them are box-office films.

1. Hero (2002)
I like how they play with color to indicate the different point of views.

2. House of Flying Daggers (2004)
The twist at the end is perfect. I, at least, didn't expect it.

3. Curse of the Golden Flower (2006)
Jay Chou FTW!!! And oh my... don't you wish to live in a palace like that?

4. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000)
Only early this year that I finally had the chance to watch it. The love story in the desert is cute.

5. Red Cliff I (2008), Red Cliff II (2009)
Tony Leung FTW!!! Zhao Wei's love story is very touching, I cried when the man she love died :(

6. Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon (2008)
The story also explain the battle of Red Cliff. It's weird though to watch this movie right after watching Red Cliff since the characters are portrayed differently.

What have I been watching lately 1

Making full use of my local library membership, I rent many CDs each week. Here are some of them:

1. Memento (2000)
This movie does give me a headache since the scenes are presented in a reverse order to portray the feeling of a person suffering from anterograde amnesia. Very creative although at the end I went "What? He's the one who.....". (4/5)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c7/Memento_poster.jpg

2. Paris, je t'aime aka Paris, I love you (2006)
A nice collection of several shorts stories although not all of them are my taste. (3/5)

http://pariswhereyouare.typepad.com/.a/6a011570bd57a3970b01157221a778970b-pi

3. Le Grand Voyage (2006)
A very interesting story about a journey of a father and a son driving a car to Mekah. (4/5)

4. Linda Linda Linda (2005)
A story about 3 Japanese high school girls and a Korean exchange students practicing for their school festival. Very heartwarming and refreshing. I was so surprised to see Matsuyama Kenichi aka L plays a small role in this movie. (4/5)

^_^

Just wanna share with all of you some of the beautiful people that I used to adore.
http://harrypotter.ugo.com/images/students/slytherin/draco-malfoy.jpg
Draco Malfoy is undeniably my first major crush. Although he is not that very good looking, but his bad boy aura attracted me somehow. Plus, compared to Harry and Ron, he is definitely more charming and interesting. Although I am not really interested into HP movies anymore, but he is still one of my favorite characters ever.
http://asiabeam.com/gallery/d/34631-1/Hideaki+Takizawa+16.jpg
Okay Draco Malfoy as my first crush is definitely a lie. Haha. My first crush was Hideaki Takizawa. I was 12 when I watched News no Onna. I thought he was very cute then. And last month while browsing Mysoju for a new drama to watch, I came across his latest drama, Orthros no Inu. After 10 years, he is still as cute as he used to. Anyway, I heard that he is gay. But who cares, aren't all JE boys have that syndrome?
http://yeinjee.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/japan-yui-aragaki-001.jpg
I like Agaraki Yui simply because she is pretty and has an innocent look. Although her acting is not really convincing but I still like her in My Boss My Hero and Papa to Musume no Nanokanan.
http://blog.fooyoh.com/_data/pandakun/images/20080305/yeh1.jpg
I usually hate females who play males character in drama. But in Yoon Eun Hye case, I didn't. In fact I like her. She is adorable in Coffee Prince and The Vineyard Man. I generally think that she is pretty. But I wonder how in some pictures, she look extraordinarily stunning while in some pictures she look plain. Hmmm... guess it's the magic of make-up.
http://chicmomsie.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/jay.jpg
Okay this is the first singer that I really I like. I know some people think that he's ugly but to me he is good looking. I admire him because besides being a singer, he is also a composer, lyricist, director, businessman, etc. His voice is not as nice as Lee Hom's but I still like it. He definitely has his own aura as an entertainer.

Here is my latest interest: Nakamaru Yuichi of KaT-TUN. He is the least good looking and most underrated member of KaT-TUN. I somehow found him interesting.

Distorted Tunes Test

Finished watching Detective Conan movie 12, Full Score of Fear. The case revolves around a bunch of musicians. I was carried away by the story that I took a tone deaf test right after that. Here are the results:

Hearing Test Results
You correctly identified 20 tunes (out of 26) on the Distorted Tunes Test. Congratulations! You have a fine sense of pitch.

The Blind Side

Watched "The Blind Side" staring Sandra Bullock and Quinton Aaron
the movie is about a poor African American boy who was adopted by a very rich white family
the boy then became one of the best American football player
what i like about this movie is the fact that it was based on a true story

I started crying after 10 minutes the movie started
well... I'm not the kind of person who cry over a movie
but maybe because I watched it on a big screen that the whole movie seemed real
plus the fact that almost every audience in the room were crying, making it difficult for me to act tough.

Anyway I give this movie a 3.5/5

Here is the picture of the real football player and his family.
